TRASH AND RECYCLING GUIDELINES

• Trash Pick up Days: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. 

Trash is to be placed outside your unit door before 7:00 a.m. Do not place trash out the night before a scheduled pick up. Do not carry it to the street or other areas of Parkfairfax. NO PAPER BAGS PLEASE!

• City Ordinances apply at Parkfairfax and will be enforced.

• Recyclable Trash Pick up Day: Wednesday, RECYELABLES ONLY.

Regular trash will NOT be picked up.  Please place all your recyclables and newspapers outside your unit door before 7:00 a.m. DO NOT USE PLASTIC BAGS FOR NEWSPAPERS.  Newspapers must be secured in bundles or placed in paper bags only.  Recyclables include newspapers, cardboard (must be flattened), magazines, junk mail, office paper, paper bags, glass jars and bottles (no lids, caps or tops), plastics, and aluminum cans.  NO TRASH IS PICKED UP ON THIS DAY. IF YOU PLACE YOUR TRASH OUT ON RECYCLABLE DAY YOU COULD BE ASSESSED A $65.00 REMOVAL FEE.

• THERE IS NO TRASH SERVICE ON SUNDAY:  Please do not place any trash outside on this day. If you find it necessary to discard trash on Sunday, you must take it to the Maintenance Yard* and place it in the dumpsters. IF YOU PLACE YOUR TRASH OUT ON SUNDAY YOU COULD BE ASSESSED A $65.00 REMOVAL FEE.

• Large Items Pick-Up:  Maintenance will pick up large items (excluding appliances) for a fee of $65.00 per truckload.  You may dispose of your appliances by taking them to the Maintenance Yard* and placing them in the dumpster as long as they do not contain Freon.

• Hazardous waste and paint must not be placed outside of your unit for trash pickup and should not be placed at the Maintenance Yard.IF YOU ARE FOUND PLACING YOUR HAZARDOUS WASTE OR PAINT AT ANY OF THESE LOCATIONS YOU COULD BE ASSESSED A REMOVAL FEE OF UP TO $100.00. Hazardous waste and paint must be taken to the City of Alexandria’s Household Waste Site located at 3222 Colvin Street, Alexandria, Virginia 22304, on Monday or Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

• Jeffrey’s Trash Service will pick up large items (household stuff such as furniture, excluding appliances) on the 2^nd and 4^th Thursday of the month at no charge.  The items should be placed at the curb and marked for Jeffery’s pick-up.

• If your trash is missed on a scheduled pick-up day, contact the Administrative Office immediately at 703-998-6315. 

• FAILURE TO FOLLOW THE TRASH SCHEDULE WILL RESULT IN THE UNIT OWNER BEING ASSESED A $65.00 REMOVAL FEE.
